Use Civi AI

  • Civi AI is the default way to read and improve resumes.
  • Guest users get a small trial.
  • Signed-in users get fresh Civi AI runs every day.
  • Switch to your own OpenRouter key anytime if you want self-funded usage.

Own key guide

  1. Open openrouter.ai and sign in or create an account.
  2. Go to Keys and create a new API key.
  3. Copy the key immediately and store it securely.
  4. In this app, open Settings, choose Use my own OpenRouter key, and paste the key.
  5. Click Validate Key before reading or improving a resume.
  6. After validation, you can use the key to read and improve resumes.
  7. You can keep the model as Auto Router or select another OpenRouter model from the list.
  8. Free models cost nothing but are rate-limited by OpenRouter (50 requests a day, or 1,000 a day once you have bought $10 of credits). If a free model is busy, the app retries on Auto Router.
  9. Claude models (Haiku, Sonnet, Opus, Fable) are paid. They run through the same OpenRouter key and are charged to your OpenRouter credits.
Security tip: treat your API key like a password. Rotate it if you suspect exposure.

Troubleshooting

  • If validation fails, verify there are no extra spaces in your key.
  • If Civi AI says your trial or daily runs are used up, sign in or use your own key.
  • If resume improvement fails, try a shorter job description and retry.
  • Ensure your OpenRouter account has available credits/quota.
  • If you see a rate-limit message on a free model, wait a minute or switch to another free model.
  • Use Quick import first if Read my resume is timing out.
